A lasting legacy

Helping those who help

In 2013, two friends by the names of Peter Baines OAM and Larry Fingleson sat down for a coffee. During the catch up, Peter presented Larry with a question – how could he make a more sustainable difference to charities in Australia.

Having helped many charities over the years with the odd bit of advice and professional support, Peter wanted a way of making a bigger, more sustainable difference to the non-profit sector.

For Larry, the answer was simple – why help one charity at a time, every now and again, when you could help several charities at once in a structured and highly engaging way.

And so The Growth Project was born – an innovative program that aims to positively impact 100 charity leaders and 100 business leaders over the course of five years to 2020. By bringing together individuals, companies and philanthropists with charity leaders, Peter, Larry and all the team at The Growth Project are achieving their goal helping charities maximise the positive impact they have on the world.

Peter Baines OAM

Peter is an international keynote speaker and consultant on leadership and building engagement through shared experiences. He  understands both sides of charitable giving having built his own successful charity, Hands Across the Water, and also having advised companies for many years on how they can get the most from their giving. These ideas and experiences are captured in Peter’s most recent book, Doing Good by Doing Good, which helps companies turn their CSR programs into profit centres.

Larry Fingleson

Larry formed the Growth Project in partnership with Peter Baines out of a deep desire to help others. He saw an opportunity to draw on what he had learnt over the years working with small and large organisations to help charity leaders build successful, sustainable organisations. When he’s not working for the Growth Project, Larry is the Managing Director of Priority Advisory Group.

The Growth Project

The Growth Project is a non-profit organisation that supported small, successful charities to maximise their impact on the world.

We delivered this through an innovative personal development program that brought together charity and business leaders in an environment of shared learning. Throughout the 12-month course, participants shared knowledge and experiences, learnt how to run more effective and efficient organisations and developed their leadership skills.

The Growth Project is an ACNC registered charity.

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of country throughout Australia and recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.

By helping those who help, we have created connections and ripples of impact that will endure well beyond The Growth Project.
